Coming to Hi-Ex! 2012...

This year at Hi-Ex!, we will be bringing you something quite special that we’re sure you’ll have never seen before, but we know you’ll absolutely love.
Your kindly Hi-Ex! Team have, for the past few years, been honoured to be invited as guests to Octocon, the Irish National Sci-fi Convention in Dublin.
It was there that we first experienced John Vaughan and his awesome video vault of horror... and we loved it so much that we thought we’d spirit him across the sea  to bring his unique view on a cinema classic to these shores.
John Vaughan yesterday

Well, we say ‘classic’... John will take a famous, or should we say infamous, sci-fi film and subject it to his laser like gaze and take it apart from your not inconsiderable entertainment.
Trust us folks, you are all going to want to see this, and if you don’t you’ll be jealous of those lucky enough to get a seat in the theatre for the spectacle.
What is the movie, you say..? Well, that would be telling. But in the past, John has submitted such classics as Beastmaster and Hercules in New York to his forensic examination... who knows what he has lined up next..!

The Amazing Spider-man trailer

This was leaked online last night, as I'm sure you've seen, but now it has been released officially.

Yes, it is another origin story but honestly, if you're able to swallow DC Comics rebooting their entire universe, I think you can accept this, eh?
All in all, this looks like fun, and the trailer ends with a simply astonishing POV shot.

Battle: Los Angeles trailer

This looks interesting. I was unsure about the teaser trailer a couple of months ago, but this looks to be- going by this at least- suitably grim and dark.
Part of me hopes it is very dark and the aliens win... but somehow I think that America will figure out a way of stopping the monsters. I can only hope it's not through the medium of uploading a virus into their space computers...

Thor teaser poster

This looks rather nice!
Yahoo Movies has posted the above image of the new Teaser poster for Kennth Brannagh's upcoming Thor movie.
It's all moody and stuff, innit? Can't wait for the first proper trailer!

Dredd Movie footage at Ka-Pow

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the interweb went nuts (well, the 2000AD related corner of it) at the first picture of Karl Urban in his Judge Dredd costume.

Now it has been announced that there's some further Dredd related excitement to be had at Mark Millar's Kapow convention in London next April.
As reported on Comic Book Resources:
"Producer Andrew MacDonald will take the first look of his Pete Travis-directed adaptation during a Q&A at the 2000AD panel."

So- as if you needed one- there's another good reason to go!

Green Lantern movie trailer

Well, this one has been a long time coming.
And while we don't quite understand why this was made before a more recognisable product like Wonder Woman, it looks pretty good so far.

Sucker Punch full trailer

The trailer for Sucker Punch, the new movie from Zack Snyder, director of comic adaptations 300 and Watchmen has just been let loose, and rather mental it is too.
It looks like they had a book with every action movie subject in the world and flicked through it a couple of times to get a scene.
Flick flick... okay, Dragons... flick flick... World War One... okay, that's a bit strange but well go with it, maybe give the book one more flick through... flick flick... giant samurai warriors with mini-guns... okay, perhaps we should stop now...

Anyway judge for yourselves! We don't know what to make of this yet, but one thing is for sure, it does look eye meltingly spectacular. Plus, it's got Scott Glenn in it.

Captain America

Entertainment Weekly have a bit of a scoop on with the first pic of former Human Torch Chris Evans in his Captain America costume.

Looks rather groovy to us!
